My Love of SUN Images goes back to childhood. This One came forth directly from my heArt. Fired in RAKU with wonderful small and large crackles. The colors are brilliantly captured to bring Light on even the darkest of days.

Notice the star and moon in each eye?Sometimes, I am a bit attached to pieces and that was the case with this one. I do trust it is shining LOVE in a good home now. Willing to accept a commission to re-create a similar piece, however each Piece is uniquely created and original. That price will be negotiated since it depends on several variables including size, firing method, (raku is more risky and therefore more money) and design. Also, the "RED" glaze is a much more expensive chemical glaze. Feel free to contact me if you are interested in your own SUN scupture. Also, please look at this piece under the magnifier and you will see more of the "crackle" detail that is ONLY present in Raku firing method.

SOLD. Hand sculpted clay stoneware sea turtle wallhanging. In all honesty, I thought this fellow he would "crawl" off my kiln shelf when I first saw him after the final firing. I had experimented using underglazes and my own glaze recipes and was pleased with the outccome. Over the years, I have worked on not being so attached to outcome, in spite of the multiple hours that goes into one of these pieces. It has taken a great deal of experimentation and many broken pieces to get to the point where I have greater success. I do not "mass produce" these turtles and usually only make a couple each year since they are so detailed and time-consuming to bring to life. If you are interested in collecting one, please contact me. This lovely and realistic piece was a JOY to create and is awaiting his perfect home.

This is a very Power-Full Clay Piece. The original idea for this Inspired Sculpture came to me in a powerfully lucid dream prior to hurricane Katrina. In the dream, I was swimming peacefully when a giant sea Turtle approached me and nudged me. I felt afraid and he told me in my mind "Do not fear, for we are ONE." The following day when I was in the studio working on a sea turtle sculpture in clay, the realization came to me that I could create a human face emerging out of the turtle shell. This illustrated the concept that "We are One." And so it became an outward expression in the days that followed. Katrina hit soon after the bisque firing and I was not able to complete the piece until nearly a year later. Here is the image of the original piece for you to enjoy. Keep in mind that the actual clay Art Piece has a Life and Energy that a picture simply does NOT possess. Museum award winning raku clay sculpture.The Juror at the Ohr O'Keefe museum of Art purchased number two piece for his own collection. I own the original and am unwilling to sell it. This piece has a powerfully radiant and LOVING Energy. Willing to recreate a similar commissioned piece with a 150 dollar deposit.Please allow 8 weeks for completion. Keep in heart/mind that each piece will be uniquely different. The glaze and firing in the RAKU process can not be controlled as much as stoneware firings.

Raku clay sculptural wallhanging.This original piece is not available. "Protector" was displayed at George Ohr O'keefe museum of Art and featured on their invitations in 2007. Will consider recreating a similar commissioned piece. The InSpiration for it came forth after staying trapped in our home for over 16 hours while hurricane Katrina winds blew over 100 miles per hour. So many of my favorite Trees withstood those winds and Protected us. So many of those Trees did NOT withstand those winds and were sacrificed to protect us. They absorbed the excessive water, they were there for people to climb to safety when the flood waters came. And still, they live in my Awareness as Protectors of Beauty and of Life itSelf.

Stoneware clay sculpure. Sorry folks, this one is so personal that I simply can not release it yet. The symbolism is actually rather profound. I was inspired by lady bugs in my garden and their metamorphosis. There are three women sculpted in the Tree at various stages of development. The first woman has no face. When I was young, I thought I wanted to be an artist but I did not have my face on yet, so to speak. There was no clarity and so I chose to be a nurse healer until the artist was ready to be born. The second woman's face has her eyes closed with a fire above her head. This symbolizes that we must ALL go through the Fires of transformation and look within ourselves for answers. Finally, the woman that you see in the picture has her arms above her head peacefully and is feeling whole and complete. That is the Journey that I have been making to re-member who i am.

Trees are so much a part of my consciousness and awareness that it felt important to represent that through my art. It is called Deep Roots because I feel, as an avid gardener, that it is critical that we tend to the roots of things in life. If we do not water the roots, well, the plant, tree, relationship, art,career, etc. will wither and die. So, I choose to water the roots of those things that are of immense value to me in life, especially relationships with family and friends. Stoneware clay TREE sculpture. Displayed at the OHR O'Keefe museum of Art in Biloxi, MS in 2007. Often when I work in clay, it is as if I step out of the way and the Piece creates itSelf. When I stepped back and saw only one arm on this Tree sculpture, I wondered what that meant. After pondering that, I realized that it was related to the experience of Allowing so many wonderFUL Beings to help us cleanup and rebuild our lives after hurricane Katrina.It is often said that it is better to give than to receive,BUT, in truth, to give and to receive are the same Energy. We can not do ONE without the Other! We are interdependent and connected.Perhaps we often like to be the Giver, because we then FEEL that we are in control. In truth, we must know that Life supports us no matter what and Gifts abound.

Hand sculpted clay wallhanging in two pieces. This Creation in clay came about when I was finally able to get back in my studio after Katrina. My husband and I rebuilt my parents home that had four feet of water. Although it was very challenging on many levels, we actually formed an even stronger Connection with one another after nearly twenty years together. It took me about a year of living with the two pieces unglazed and white before I finally realized that it must be multi-colored like a rainbow. This clay sculptural wallhanging is a powerful piece that must be SEEN to be fully appreciated.

Stoneware clay tree sculpture, meticulously and lovingly created with clay coils. Two Women are represented in the TREE. One is a pregnant American Indian woman with roses emerging from her belly and climbing upward. There is the masculine Sun and Feminine Moon. On the opposite aspect is a multi-ethnic Woman as seem from behind and Looking Within. At the top is a small Turtle Dove on a nest with two eggs. The piece tells a Story and was created when one of my Women Friends wanted her first child at 40. So, I created a Tree and we imagined the perfect pregnancy and delivery. Amazingly, after several miscarriages, she finally became pregnant and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Ananda. All my pieces reflect Life Experiences... What is Your Story? This hand sculpted Lion face with whiskers was created with absolute JOY for Jaye Dee, a loyal customer. I simply created (Took a month from start to finish) and she showed up at the festival the day after it was completed. It was Love at first sight!

I told her that I get quiet and allow a message to come through that I write on the back of each clay piece. This one was related to re-covering post Katrina. She then told me an amazing story about a friend's daughter that had lived in Australia for a year and came back with a tatoo under her left breast with this exact message. What are the chances of that happening? I do not know since I am primarily right brain driven and that sounds astronomically mathmatical. Write me if you know the answer! Either way, this piece is awaiting the perfect Home and is in the gallery in New Orleans.

Stoneware clay sculpture in two pieces. This piece was actually made using individually cut out star pieces that were carefully joined together. It represents the delicate yin/yang Balance of heaven and earth that I am seeking in my Life. As I pieced it together, I imagined mySelf whole and complete and at Peace in the Universe.

Interestingly, when I initially created this piece it was meant to be a SUN, but the rays broke off and to "go with the flow" I ended up allowing it to be a Moon... It actually says "Dancing Moon" on the back,but you can see where it was initially named Dancing Sun. It just felt like a Blue Moon to me. This piece is part of my personal collection and was one of the very first pieces that I created after we bought our home.

Raku Tree sculpture. Displayed in the George OHR museum Fine art exhibition back in 1999. Ironically my parents owned this piece, and after Katrina visited the Mississippi Gulf coast, had over 4 feet of water in their home. When we started cleaning out the home and throwing a lifetime of things away, I was overjoyed when the volunteers found this piece unbroken and intact. It is not for sale.

Hand-created Raku decorative plate/wallhanging with message on back. This piece has excellent raku crackle in it and survived the extreme temperature changes involved in the raku process.Actual fern from our yard was pressed in the clay and the rest was hand drawn into the clay canvas. It was inspired after seeing dozens of tiny humminbirds in our garden the day after hurricane Katrina. We live within a mile of the beach and stayed in our home. I had carried some of my flowering plants into the house and brought them out after the storm. All the leaves and flowers were torn off the plants and tress outside. Amazingly many of these tiny birds survived and were looking for the sweet nectar of the flowers to survive. THAT is a story you did NOT hear on the news! Prior to Katrina, several women Artists that I know were preparing for a "Female Forms" exhibition, but like many things post hurricane, that was cancelled. It was at that time that I began to sculpt the human form because I was receiving "requests" for it and no other local Clay Artists were willing to explore that. I Allow myself to be Guided in new directions and try to say YES, more than I say No. I have even done special order pregnant belly castings. Please observe the excellent raku Crackles on this piece when magnified.It almost looks like fine Marble rather than clay.

Hand sculpted Tree shape with Female and Male forms symbolizing our inseparable Connection with Mother Earth and all that is. This Large Tree has stained glass inserted into various openings including the Door and the Eye. There is a hand shaped door on the other side of the sculpture, with a round stained glass window and a heart shaped door handle. Carved into the clay, there is an Iris flower, the writing "Love Life" and "Feel Love" The idea for the piece started when Ryan Toups saw other Tree sculptures and commented that they looked like "Little Sacred Temples" and gradually this one emerged and grew. It is not for sale, but I would Love to share it in an exhibition.

Turtle first appeared in our yard on my birthday, May 9th, back in 1998 after my Grandmother had died. They live and breed freely there even though we actually live in the city. These are sold, but I am creating more. Some are actually rattles with small pieces of clay within them.

During a period of healing, I decided to celebrate the life of my Mother and Grandmother and mySelf through the medium of painting. It was a JOY to create this piece and there is, of course, a turtle and spider in it. Clay creation is such a long process that involves much patience, whereas Painting gives immediate results. Sometimes I like to paint for this reason and now am creating mixed media pieces with clay and paint on canvas.

These heart shaped leaf bowls are inspired by the plant in my yard that has taken over one area. They are seriously one of my best sellers and very affordable. Food safe with sweet messages on the bottom.Each piece is amazingly unique with wonderful self mixed glazes from my chemical recipes! Not from a jar.

Since I studied "The art and science of Herbalism" I learned of many plants used for their medicinal properties. My Teacher's Teacher had bearfoot plants that I tried to "acquire" for 2 years. He finally let me dig a few up and they grew taller than his in our garden! They are so beautiful that I could NOT pull them up for their roots and instead roll the leaves in clay and see women in the leaves... and uplifting words. Look closely now.

Hand sculpted, burnished with terra sig.(40 layers for depth) and fired in Raku kiln with strong reduction. This clay sculptural Piece represents, to me, that we are a beautiful part of the Universe (One-Song) I LOVE to lay on the Earth at night and gaze up at the stars.

Stoneware, hand-sculpted,clay sea Turtle merging with human face. This Piece is from 2008 and is from the "Emergence" series that began in 2005, just prior to hurricane Katrina. There are mirrors in the EYES, which causes Your Image to became part of the sculpture for a moment in time. Initially, the idea for this sculptural series came to me in a dream prior to hurricane katrina's visitation. In it, I was peacefully swimming and a large Turtle suddenly swam up to me, started me and nudged me to pay attention. Then, I was told to have no Fear for we are ONE. I continue to experiment with new glazes and twists on the original idea. One of the first pieces received the Juror's choice award at the OHR Rising museuem exhibition.

New stoneware hand-sculpted Lion's Head is the third in a series of LIONS that I am sculpting creatively in Clay. The glazes on this large wall-hanging flow beautifully to reflect the beauty and power of LION.

I initially started sculpting EYES in clay in 2005 just before hurricane Katrina. Ironically, I had made two eyes and had them on the table next to my Kiln on the back porch. Katrina hit on a monday and we were scheduled to do an art show in New Orleans (only 60 miles or so to our west) on saturday. So, we had the truck loaded and ready to go. When we woke up saturday morning, one of my cats had pushed ONE EYE off the table and it was shattered on the floor next to the kiln. Even though we live with many cats (six at this time) they seldom break anything. At that moment, I decided NOT to go to the show and we stayed home and began early preparation for the hurricane. Good thing we did, because Katrina really knocked the coast of MS off it's feet. The early prep was worth the loss in sales and I still do single EYE sculptures with melted glass in the center as a Re-Minder to listen to Guidance and Intuition! Hey all of you folks out there.... EYE SEE YOU!

This wallhanging of turtles and a dolphin was actually created earlier this year, but I am just getting around to glazing and raku firing it.Often, I have to "live" with a Piece for a little while before it is revealed how to glaze and fire it. I love the flow of this One. The message on the back says: "Life is filled with ups and downs. We are all learning the steps of a truly mysterious cosmic dance. Sometimes we flow effortlessly. Sometimes we step on each other's flippers! Keep on keepin on." Ironically, after I created the piece, we went to a chinese restaurant and the fortune that I received, actually said "Keep on keepin on." I still have it! Thoughts in mind produce in kind.....

This Raku Cat face mask has flamboyant whiskers and a wide grin with one small flower in it's fur. The message on the back of the piece says: "Smile, you are loved!"

This piece was displayed at the OHR museum in Biloxi, MS in 2007.They also used a picture of it on their Invitations to the exhibition. The creation of the piece was powerfully healing for me. We stayed in our brick home that is less than a mile from the beach with seven rescued cats during hurricane katrina. I had a realization afterwards of just how Precious our TREES really are. This inSight and InSpiration lead me to create a series of tree pieces. This one features a strong woman Tree with branches stretching outward. The sun and the moon represent the length of time that the very strong winds blew and blew and blew. It was an amazing and life changing event that I am actually grateful for at this time.

New Owl sculpture fired multiple times with glazes and underglazes. The piece appears to "fly" off the wall. Piercing red eyes create a dynamic and powerful sculptural piece.

This radiant Face of the Moon was just completed after I was out of the studio for over six weeks due to a major injury. It gave me such JOY to sculpt this beautiful face and to finally complete it. When firing in raku, it is very desirable to have large and small crackles and this piece fortunately does. The eyes are deep and compassionate.

SOLD, but creating more. There is enough is my mantra these days! This piece was actually inSpired by the face of a lovely young woman and I decided to create a crescent Moon that I knew would be fired in raku. The message on the back simply says: "Love All."

Stoneware, hand-sculpted,clay sea Turtle merging with human face. This Piece is from 2008 and is from the "Emergence" series that began in 2005, just prior to hurricane Katrina. Initially, the idea for this sculptural series came to me in a dream prior to hurricane katrina's visitation. In it, I was peacefully swimming and a large Turtle suddenly swam up to me, started me and nudged me to pay attention. Then, I was told to have no Fear for we are ONE. I continue to experiment with new glazes and twists on the original idea. One of the first pieces received the Juror's choice award at the OHR Rising museuem exhibition.

As a clay artist, it is wildly disturbing to have an Idea in the Mind and not be able to Create it and give Birth to IT. The Idea for this one floated around for a long time and was finally released recently. This Hand sculpted Face Mask was actually inSpired by my Friends and Fans on Facebook. Eye have always been a rather open Minded Woman and Feel it is critical to find a way to connect with Other Beings and to find common ground. There were many In-Sights associated with this Raku Face Mask.

One of my favorite pass times is literally Floating in Water and Looking up at the Clouds. It occured to me recently that I am not separate from All that Is. This Piece literally was in my "head" for a year before I finally allowed it to come forth in Clay. It is fired in Raku and has lovely crackles and expresses my Love of Nature, including the Clouds.

Reduced price. Iris is a flower that symbolizes great Hope and beauty to me. We first encountered mass numbers of them on a Honeymoon visit to OREGON. There were so many colors and varieties. It intrigued me to discover that they have a sweet and unique fragrance. I can grow almost anything, except Iris! We are simply too hot and humid in south Mississippi. We do have a native variety that is lovely. These Pieces have melted stained glass in the Flower that is melted on the second firing.

This photo was taken November 2008 at an outdoor art festival called The Peter Anderson Memorial Festival in Ocean Springs, MS. The Lion head sold the day after it was completed. Willing to take orders with a deposit.

One of my fondest memories is a Vision of these "ghostly" beautiful Egret birds resting in a Tree when the sun went down. There were over fifty of them, and I woke up before dawn so that I could experience their majesty as they took flight. This sweet pair can be seen on our beautiful gulf coast beach when you come down for a visit!

This handmade Fish was not molded, but came to life in clay and is looking for a new home.

My absolute Love and Appreciation of Mother Earth resonates in this Raku Clay Sculpture. It sold in Lafayette, Louisiana at Festival International to an Art Patron and collector.

Raku fired, this Power-full Clay Wallhanging was strongly influenced by the Loving energy of One of my Si-stars. Her name is Queen Uokes and She was in the Studio with me when this Piece was birthed. There are many strong symbols in the Wallhanging. When You examine it more closely, You can see the fine Raku crackles. The snake comes forth and wraps around Her Head in the figure eight or infinity symbol. Strong, Female influences and Mothering are represented with the Dove in the nest. A Sun and Moon are also visible in the Piece.

My intrigue with Native American Stories is reflected in this creative and orginal Art Piece. Grandmother Spider is considered the orignal giver of the alphabet and as a Woman Storyteller, I strongly identify with that. When You look within the WEB, there are several words captured in it that may serve us on this Journey through time and space. There are many beautiful connections IF we have the heart and mind to SEE them. There are strong symbolisms reflected in this colorful, raku fired Art Wallhanging.

My Love of the Moon is reflected in this very Feminine, Raku fired Clay Wallhanging. In the raku firing method, it is desirable to see large and small crackles in a Piece. Many Clay Artists are not successful in removing larger Pieces from the Kiln. The Fires and reduction process were kind and the Piece survived. We can ALL grow and thrive when we experience the Fullness of unconditional LOVE. May You feel Loved and supported on the journey.

My Love and Reverance of Nature and the Earth's Gifts is reflected in my Leaf Faces with messages in them. This One has a bit more "copper" in some areas and is serene and reflective. My Mom teases me that I am so good at making Faces that I could do it with my Eyes closed... Then, again, I tend to go on "feeling"....The eyes are really cool looking.

Our beautiful yard and garden is often the In-Spiration for my Art Work. This Piece was birthed and originally called "The Dance" but as we were doing the RAKU firing over the weekend, I realized that it is actually "The Dance of Venus." It expresses my Belief that ALL Life is mystically interconnected in way that we simply can not grasp with our limited perceptions.

Our garden is a lush and tropical paradise. This functional Piece was hand created. There are small pieces of stained glass in the Piece that give it depth and a "glow" of dew. The Bamboo leaves are carved out. Safe for food or simply for decoration.

This is one of my smaller baby Turtle Pieces that is a decorative wallhanging. On the back, it says "Turtle Song. Listen with the Heart." Another Person that was also a Turtle Lover, told me that they have no audible voice and are the only creatures like that. When I pondered that, this Message came thru to me. The glazes on this hand created and painted Piece flow gently, like Water. The Price includes shipping and handling.

SOLD. This hand sculpted raku full moon face has a sweet expression that is very soft and perhaps a bit sad. It was, however a JOY to create and a lovely gentleman purchased it immediately after it was completed. The raku crackle was exceptionally good and I am currently working on another unique MOON in the studio now.

My LOVE of TREES and their LEAVES is expressed in this series of hand sculpted Pieces. The most recent One to emerge in Raku has wonderful metallic and rainbow colors on it that change in various lighting. Sure to win your heArt and adorn your wall for many years to come.

After hurricane katrina, I created a "Protector" Clay Art piece to illustrate that the TREES are a precious part of the Earth's landscape. We have so many OAK Trees on our Mississippi gulf coast, and they saved many people's lives during the storm. Then, we experienced "Issac" on the anniversary of Katrina and I decided to do a "reVisit" of the Protector Piece. Was not sure if the large object in the Sky was a Sun or a Moon, but the fans on the facebook business page voted on Moon. We just completed the Piece and fired it in Raku. I really love the result with the night sky and the bright, rainbow colors in the Tree Woman.

Ironically, this Piece was inside my head, bouncing around, for a very long time, until I finally decided that I would lose my Mind if I did not create it and give it Expression in the world of form. I posted it on facebook and a Friend that lives in New Jersey said that Ursa would be a great name since it has a Bear Claw in the hair. I decided that it needed more than that and added the VISION part. It was made at least a month before hurricane Sandy that has so tragically devasted the northeast coast. Notice the Sea Turtle in the water and there are two EYES. There were three, but as I was cleaning the piece, one end broke off. And there is a Full Moon near her head and a Tear coming forth from her eye. I have decided to offer a "series" of these Pieces.

This Swiming TURTLE Piece emerged after going thru the powerfully transformative experience of cancer. It has a significant message on the back that says: "Moving forward. Leaving the past behind."

After hurricane Katrina, I created my first clay "Buttocks" sculpture to express my feelings about the experience. Since that time, I have made two more and this One is VERY large for a Raku Fired Sculpture. I am calling it "Out on a Limb." There is a message on the inside of the Piece. There are wonderful small and large crackles, which is highly desirable in the raku process. It also reflects my LOVE of our Mississippi gulf coast and all of the wonderful Trees.

After discovering that I had breast cancer last Oct. my Life turned upside down, inside out, and spun like a tornado out of control for a few months. Since I allow mySelf to FEEL whatever it is that I am feeling, I did go into a place where my creativity was simply not flowing. This STAR Piece represents the reBirth that I began to feel when I started sketching out new designs. Truthfully, it was the first Piece that really reNewed my heArt once more. So, on facebook, my Friends helped me name the Piece and every single name that they came up with is carved into the back of the Piece. It will be available to see in person at Festival International 2012. Not sure IF I will be selling it. These days, I ONLY make what I love and feel a connection with. There is a bit of attachment to this one. I am a soft heart and very sentimental. (among other things that I have been called! lol)

This powerful and large mixed media ceramic wallhanging has dynamic fluidity and movement. The clay sculpted shells on the turtles are filled with stained glass that is melted at 2200 degrees F in the second firing. The round design combines beautifully in a home filled with square framed ART to soften the energy in a room.In feng shui, the round design represents the "metal" element. Native American Indians found the "circular" shape represented wholeness and the perfection of the Creator. Since the SUN and the MOON, so necessary to LIFE, are round they are often seen as Divine expressions and Gifts of the Creator.
