Clay Mask-making Playshop
One summer, I offered a clay mask-making class. We met twice to create a unique piece of art that each participant treasured. In the first class, I created a plaster face mask Mold and then pressed a slab of raku clay into it. After lunch, I assisted each person in designing and decorating the masks. After they left, the masks dried for several weeks and were then bisque fired. During the second session together, they hand glazed each mask and then we fired them OUTDOORS using a Raku firing technique.
